So there we were; lists were made, chores completed, bags
nearly packed. All we had to do was make a quick couple of stops for some
supplies and we were off to the coast. And it was all going swimmingly well.
Until it wasn't.
What hit us was Mother Nature in the form of a torrential
downpour that left visibility so bad that we crawled along. In fact our check
in time at the hotel passed with us barely out of Brisbane. It was late by the
time we got to our destination. Our
hotel turned out, with a quirk of fate, to be right near that fabulous Indian restaurant
that we raved about last time we were here... not that we made it back this
visit.
The room was lovely; the position to everything was
excellent. There was only one tiny issue. Ratting through the tea and coffee in
the room one discovered that they used International Roast. A coffee that one
has always suspected is comprised of the floor sweepings of some little coffee
place... one that makes real coffee :(
This did not bode well for the morning, but we were too late
to dwell on this fact as we ran out of the room to meet up with a friend for
dinner. A dinner that finished with drinks on a park bench, overlooking the
river, at some ungodly hour of the morning...
Holidays can be magical times.
